Top rated notebooks

We list our top rated notebooks for the month, ranging from Ultrabooks to gaming units

For the moment, Medion is at the top of our list with a 15.6in unit that supplied excellent performance and features for its low asking price. Just below it is the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 530, which is the first laptop that we've tested with Intel's third generation Intel Core i7 CPU. It's terrific 15.6in notebook that's affordable and stocked with many useful features.

Toshiba's 15in Satellite U840 Ultrabook also makes the list, as does Samsung's 13.3in Series 5 Ultrabook. If you're into gaming, then the Lenovo laptop is definitely worth a look thanks to its new, mid-range NVIDIA graphics adapter, or you might like to check out Toshiba's Qosmio F750, which is an all-round entertainer.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
