Microsoft's Sidewinder X8

Precision gaming just got wireless

  • Onboard DPI adjustment is another feature. Users of Logitech’s gaming mice will be familiar with this feature, which allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the mouse on the fly.

  • Rather than taking you out of the action when your battery runs low, the Sidewinder X8 connects to the docking station via a tiny magnetic cable which allows you to keep playing while the unit charges.

  • Every element of the mouse’s design is built with the hardcore gamer in mind. The side buttons, for example, act more like a roller, with the thumb resting comfortably in the middle and simply sliding a little from left to right.

  • After several years of speculation, Microsoft has finally launched a wireless version of its popular Sidewinder gaming mouse. Featuring 2.4GHz wireless connectivity and the company’s brand new BlueTrack tracking technology, this is one serious piece of gaming hardware.

  • The scroll wheel has also received some attention. It is tilt-sensitive, giving you several extra button bindings which should prove valuable.

  • There is also a small LCD panel on the unit’s side that lights up and tells you the current DPI setting.

  • Utilising BlueTrack technology, the unit is able to track across a huge variety of surfaces: regardless of where you are you’ll be able to game with precision and speed.
