EA makes an offer you can probably refuse
The Godfather II is a new action-strategy game produced by Paramount Digital Entertainment and Electronic Arts. Inspired by the film and Mario Puzo’s Corleone family drama, it allows players to build a vast criminal empire across Florida, Cuba and New York. For all the latest screenshots, check out the following slideshow.
Set in an open-world environment, The Godfather II expands on the gameplay mechanics found in the first game, which probably means lots of driving to and from missions.
As they build their empire and consolidate their power, players will fight alongside a hand-picked crew of hardened criminals who have their own skills and expertise.
To help players manage their empire, The Godfather II introduces ‘The Don’s View’: an interactive strategy tool that allows players to oversee the entire world as they grow the family business. Using the Don’s View, players will be able to build, defend and expand their crime rings, while keeping an eye on the movements and plans of the rival families.
Unlike most organised crime sagas, players begin the game in a position of power; as the Don of New York. Throughout the game you must build up your family’s powerbase through extortion, crime rings and good old fashioned intimidation. Naturally, the aim is to become the most powerful mob family in America.
The Godfather 2 is the sequel to the popular 2007 game The Godfather. This time around, the action takes place in the 1960s.
The Godfather II is slated for release in February 2009, for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. (Incidentally, these are probably the worst looking press shots we have ever seen!)
The combat mechanics have been greatly expanded, with a new combo system, pressure tactics and GTA IV–style executions.
