In pictures: New Nikon CoolPix cameras

  • First cab off the ranks is the CoolPix L18, which is a fairly basic entry-level unit. It sports an 8-megapixel sensor, a colourful design and some useful features, including In-Camera Red-Eye and Anti-shake AE.

  • Next up is the CoolPix S52, which carries an impressively 9-megapixel sensor in a very slim, slightly wave-shaped design. Optical image stabilisation, otherwise known as Vibration Reduction, is also included.

  • However users who are after something with a little more zoom aren't left out either. The CoolPix P80 puts Nikon in the elite club of manufacturers with an 18x zoom camera. It also features full manual shooting modes, Vibration Reduction and ISO sensitivities up to 6400.

  • Meanwhile the CoolPix S52c packs in all the same features as the S52 with one special extra: Wi-Fi connectivity. This allows users to connect to the internet directly through their camera and upload shots without needing a computer.
