Sony compact camera line-up

  • Last but not least is the H50, which has a massive 15x optical zoom. The sensor comes bearing 9.1 million pixels. Aside from these improvements, the same array of features as the H10 is present.

  • Finally comes the mack daddy of the W series, the Cyber-shot W300. While the zoom jumps back down to a standard 3x, the sensor receives a massive resolution increase to 13.6 million pixels. That makes it one of the highest resolution compact cameras available.

  • The W series isn’t the only range to get a makeover, two new units have also been added to the H series — Sony’s ultra-zoom category. The cheaper of the two is the Cyber-shot H10, which packs in a fairly impressive 10x optical zoom lens. Its other features include an 8.1-megapixel sensor, optical image stabilisation and a 3in rotatable LCD screen.

  • First cab off the ranks is the Cyber-shot W110. This is a fairly basic entry-level unit sporting a 7.2-megapixel sensor and a 4x optical zoom lens. Face detection and ISO 3200 also make an appearance. With a low price tag, it is suitable for novice users after a new happy-snap camera with some nifty features.

  • The Cyber-shot W120 is very similar to the W110. It offers the same feature set, sensor and zoom, but throws in optical image stabilisation to help keep your shots crisp.

  • The Cyber-shot W150 takes several things up a notch. The sensor receives a boost to 8.1 megapixels, while the zoom gets bumped up to 5x. The LCD screen is also a little bigger, measuring 2.7in.
