The combination of carnivorous dinosaurs and guns – lots of guns – is clearly a match made in videogame heaven. Turok, a next-gen ‘re-imagining’ of the popular Nintendo 64 shooter, provides all the proof you’ll ever need. The game is basically an excuse to fight ridiculously large reptiles with ridiculously large firearms. Check out our slideshow for the latest scaly screenshots.
One of the big selling points of the game is the realistic and unpredictable enemy AI. By using your wits, it is possible to lure enemy combatants into the path of dinosaurs, and vice-versa, allowing you to pick off targets from the distance while all hell is breaking loose.
What would a dinosaur game be without a T-Rex?
Naturally, your odds of survival are greatly improved by an extensive arsenal of firepower. This includes an explosive bow-and-arrow (a throwback to the N64 original), a fearsome looking shotgun, the obligatory sniper-rifle and a flamethrower.
Turok takes place on a mysterious planet inhabited by a fearsome menagerie of prehistoric animals. As Joseph Turok, you must find a way off the dangerous world while simultaneously clashing with a band of bloodthirsty war criminals. Naturally, the main object is to survive at all costs.
Turok will be available in stores from Feb 6th for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC version is also slated for release later in the year.
Stealth elements will also feature heavily in the game; with an array of ‘old school’ weapons allowing for silent kills.
