Best 13in notebooks of 2010

13in notebooks from Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung, Toshiba and ViewSonic

If you're looking for a notebook that's easy to take on the road with you, yet doesn't compromise much when it comes to user comfort and features, then consider getting yourself a 13.3in laptop, rather than a 10in netbook.

We think 13.3in hits the sweet spot between mobility and easy of use and prices for many 13.3in notebooks are not that much more than the most expensive netbooks, with the benefit being that you'll also get a lot more performance out of a 13.3in notebook than you would out of a 10in netbook.

In this round-up we've gathered the best 13.3in notebooks of 2010, including the recently released Dell Vostro V130. The Vostro V130 doesn't have as many features as some of the other 13.3in models we've included, but its solid build quality, 1.6kg weight and thin frame still make it desirable.

Dell Vostro V130

Despite a couple of quibbles with its screen and design, the slim and light Dell Vostro V130 is still a top ultraportable notebook that's great for business users. The ultra-low-voltage Core i5 CPU provides much faster performance at a better price than the previous Vostro V13 model. The new unit has a digital video output, which is also an improvement over the previous model.
