Senior Business Analyst (EL1)

Our client, a large government department, is seeking several experienced Senior Business Analysts to lead, coordinate and deliver multiple complex projects associated with a nationwide initiative. Ideal candidates will have experience in leading teams, excellent business/process design and a high-level understanding of policy and legislation requirements.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity paying up to $129k incl super, based in inner Brisbane suburbs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver detailed, complex, technical or sensitive projects that impact on strategic or operational outcomes
  • Produce high-level policy advice, demonstrating an extensive understanding of legislative, regulatory and compliance frameworks underpinning the requirements of the position
  • Plan, organise and lead the activities of a team, engaged in business systems and/or process design
  • Gather and investigate data and statistical information from a variety of sources to conduct business system and solution design, consider and incorporate identified and anticipated risks and opportunities into appropriate strategies
  • Apply own expertise to elicit and document current and future states, user pathways, business rules, use cases, business requirements, high-level solution designs and design specifications in the development and implementation of testing and release plans
  • Understand and address the key concerns of the audience, tailor communication style and language according to their level of knowledge, skill and experience
  • Engage with stakeholders on unique, very complex and/or sensitive issues in order to provide or obtain information on solution requirements and design, or to influence them to recognise a particular situation
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships between the work area and others in relation to the design of workable solutions that meet client needs and business intent, and ensure alignment with the existing structures
  • Recognise and resolve unique or ill-defined problems using professional knowledge and experience, identify and generate new ideas, devise and/or analyse alternative courses of action and their implications, and advance new approaches
  • Assess the viability of solutions, use extensive practical experience to identify risks, trends and impacts on business systems to select the best option

Key Selection Criteria:
  • Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst in a senior-level capacity
  • Knowledge of policy, legislation and compliance frameworks
  • Australian citizenship (mandatory)
