BenQ today launched the world's first 21.5in LED monitor, one of 49 new products from the company that will hit the market in Australia before the end of 2009.

At the launch at Bondi Beach, Sydney, BenQ unveiled the V2200 Eco — a 21.5in LED monitor featuring a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, Full HD 1080p resolution and an HDMI input.

According to BenQ, the Eco range of monitors is manufactured using natural, recyclable materials, reducing the impact on the environment. "The Eco series monitors are green products, which minimise the bad effect on the ecosystem during manufacturing," said Chee Fui Chung of BenQ.

BenQ claims the V2200/V2400 Eco's packing materials have been reduced and that 80 per cent of the paper used is recycled, while the LED panel can reduce power consumption by up to 36 per cent compared to regular LCD monitors.

The other product of note launched today was the GP1 mini projector: a portable LED projector weighing 640g. The BenQ GP1 projector includes a USB reader, so it simply requires the connection of a USB flash drive or personal media player to display movies and photos. It also comes with a built-in 2W speaker.

BenQ also launched a number of mini notebooks, compact digital cameras and a range of projectors for education and home entertainment.
