TGS - Halo 3 draws the crowds at Tokyo Game Show

Sure, Halo 3 is out on Tuesday, but that didn't stop us from heading over to Microsoft's gigantor booth at the Tokyo Game Show to see how Japanese gamers were reacting to the Xbox 360's game to end all games. We were actually shocked how much attention Master Chief was receiving among the Metal Gears and Ninja Gaidens that seem to rule the land over here.
Not only was there a giant crowd that seemed to draw near every time the massive Microsoft screen showed the newest Halo 3 trailer, but a line of people were also found waiting to play the game on a number of kiosks. Pretty interesting considering how generally unpopular the Xbox 360 still is in Japan.
On display was a single-player level from the campaign from the final Japanese version, and a couple multiplayer maps open to frag around with. We don't want to boast, but we tore it up against these guys. It as obvious they don't play much Halo.
IGN got a nice backstage demo of the "saved films" functionality, which we know quite a bit about, but it gave us even more confidence in the feature and how massively detailed some of these multiplayer maps our.
Their demo ended with Forge, Halo 3's map editor. We heard all about it from Tenacious Moses last week (while up in Washington for the Halo 3 review event) and about how you can use Forge to pretty much create your bizarre game type of choice. One that Bungie made up is called baseball where you can "hit" incoming rockets with the gravity hammer.
Pretty freaking cool.
