D-Link's D-Fend Wi-Fi router is rolling out to shelves, promising of extra cybersecurity and control for net-wary parents.

D-Link ANZ MD Graeme Reardon said, “The new D-Link D-Fend Wi-Fi router is one of our most significant products released to date."

"With a unique set of parental controls, parents can now set profiles for each child to manage the content available to them, as well as have the control to pause Internet access whenever they wish. As a father of young children myself, being able to simply hit pause on my phone to bring an end to their latest video game or their YouTubing to simply get them to the dinner table on time, is fantastic. At the same time, knowing that our kids, our sensitive data, and our devices are protected by McAfee from malicious attacks, malware, botware and viruses is incredibly valuable.”

A high-performance dual-band 802.11ac router with MU-MIMO capabilities, the D-Fend router also comes integrated with McAfee's Secure Home Platform and the Intel's WAV500 Home Wi-Fi chipset.

The foremost of these collaborations is, arguably, the more important of the two. According to D-Link, it adds an additional layer of protection from potential malicious hackers. To help you get the most out of this feature, D-Link are bundling in a complimentary five year subscription of McAfee's Secure Home Platform and a two-year subscription for McAfee's LiveSafe Internet security software

Then there's the dedicated D-Fend app. Available on iOS and Android, this allows parents to create and manage user profiles and configure age-appropriate content for each. They can also use the app to block websites, set Internet curfews and pause a user's internet access at a moments notice.

Last but not least, you can also control your D-Fend Wi-Fi router via Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant.

The D-Link D-Fend AC2600 Wi-Fi Router is available now at an RRP of $499.95 in Australia at www.dlink.com.au and at JB HiFi.

The router is also available in New Zealand through www.dlink.co.nz and at all authorised NZ D-Link resellers and retailers at an RRP of NZ$599.99.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
