Amazon bolster Australian Echo lineup with Echo Show and Echo Sub

Amazon has announced that the new Echo Sub will be coming to Australia alongside the refreshed Echo Dot, Echo Plus and Echo Show.

“Customers tell us they love the convenience of being able to ask Alexa to show them things,” said Tom Taylor, Senior Vice President, Amazon Alexa.

“Today, we’re making the voice-first, visual Echo Show experience better in every way by adding even more experiences to delight our customers—a dynamic and vivid display makes watching videos even more enjoyable, new speakers for music, simple set-up and control of smart home devices, Skype calling to friends and family, and all-new visual features.”

The new Echo Sub, announced earlier today, is the first wireless Echo subwoofer.

Users can connect Echo Sub to compatible Echo devices to create a 1.1 or 2.1 pairing for stereo sound. It's also got a unique equaliser feature, that lets you adjust the bass, mid-range, and treble of the pairing simply by using your voice.

In Australia, the Echo Sub is priced at $199.

It'll arrive alongside refreshes of the existing Echo Dot, Echo Plus and Echo Show. The new Echo Dot boasts a new fabric design and improved sound quality, seen below.

In Australia, the new Echo Dot is priced at $79.

As with the previous generation, the new Echo Plus still boasts built-in Zigbee connectivity. However, this time around, the speaker includes an embedded temperature sensor, allowing users to easily set temperature-based routines using other smart home devices. It also touts gains on audio quality, courtesy of a larger 3-inch neodymium woofer and increased back volume.

In Australia, the new Echo Plus is priced at $229 and comes bundled with a Philips Hue smart lightbulb.

Last but not least, the new Echo Show offers up a 10-inch HD display, complemented by dual, side-firing 2 Neodymium drivers, a passive bass radiator and Dolby processing. It also boasts the same Zigbee connectivity found in the Echo Plus and a built-in, 5MP camera that supports high-definition video calling.

In Australia, Echo Show is available at $349 and comes bundled with a Philips Hue smart lightbulb.

A kickstand that will allow you to tilt the Echo Show to adjust the viewing and camera angles is also available for $49.95.

The new Echo Dot, Echo Plus, Echo Show, and Echo Sub are available for pre-order on www.amazon.com.au starting today and will start shipping next month.

Amazon say that new devices may also be pre-ordered at retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, and more.

If you can afford the price tag, it is well worth the money. It out performs any other laptop I have tried for gaming, and the transportable design and incredible display also make it ideal for work.
