Have you got the right phone plan for you?

It can take a while to find the right mobile phone plan. Everyone has different needs.

It can take a while to find the right mobile phone plan. Everyone has different needs. The social media queen, the small business owner, the struggling student and the family of five all have individual requirements when it comes to their phones.

The social media Queen/King

Your phone is overflowing with potential Insta posts and your data usage is through the roof from all you Snapchats and live feeds. Message alert ‘dings’ are the running soundtrack to your life, but God forbid you get an actual phone call. Of course you need the latest phone that will capture the most Insta-worthy pics and have the fastest connection to upload them. So naturally with the release of the new IPhone XS, this is exactly what you’re in the market for and it looks like Optus has your back. You can get a 24 month lease for $105 a month. This is with $20 off each month and unlimited calls and texts. By leasing a phone it means that you won’t be stuck with the same old phone when the next iPhone comes out.

The small business owner

Your calendar is overflowing with places you need to be and things you need to do. Your phone is constantly ringing and your data usage is significant because you are constantly having to hotspot your computer. You are happy with your current phone and couldn’t be bothered transferring all of your contacts to a new phone. Think Mobile offer a plan for $48 a month which includes unlimited national calls and texts and 80GB of data on a 12 month contract. This is perfect for all your business needs.

The struggling student

With your assignments piling up higher than your HECS debt, there isn’t enough hours in the day to fit in that extra work in order to afford the latest phone. Luxury for you is a double serve of Mi Goreng or Easy Mac. While it would be great to update your ancient iPhone 5, you know that your mum is about to update her iPhone7, and her hand-me-down means you’re in the market for a sim card only. Jeenee Mobile will to look after you with a $22.50 a month plan that includes a much needed 10GB data plan, unlimited calls and texts. There is a 12 month contract and $12.37 up front fee, but the minimum total cost for 12 months still beats all the other plans on the market.

The busy family of five

With three kids in the family, life is pretty hectic. What with after school sports, extra-curricular activities after school and the older ones juggling part-time work, it is tricky to keep track of everyone. While it is the necessary evil for everyone to have a phone, the cost of this exercise shouldn’t break the bank. An ideal inexpensive family plan with data sharing, and good connectivity wherever you go is key. Telstra offer a BYO phone plan that allows data sharing, which is perfect for the family environment, where older phones are able to be recycled amongst family members. The way this works is, if the whole family is with Telstra you are then able to activate data sharing to pool your data, and kids who have healthy data appetites won’t exceed their plans accidentally and leaving you with a large bill to pick up at the end of the month. Below are some Telstra phone plans that offer data-sharing.

MSI GS75

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.

The MSI PS63 is an amazing laptop and I would definitely consider buying one in the future.

This small mobile printer is exactly what I need for invoicing and other jobs such as sending fellow tradesman details or step-by-step instructions that I can easily print off from my phone or the Web.

Microsoft Office 365/Dell XPS 15 2-in-1

I’d recommend a Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 and the new Windows 10 to anyone who needs to get serious work done (before you kick back on your couch with your favourite Netflix show.)

It’s useful for office tasks as well as pragmatic labelling of equipment and storage – just don’t get too excited and label everything in sight!
