One reason why you should wait before buying the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7

A great phone in many ways. But typing is a chore.

There have been some gushing reviews of this phone in the past couple of days. But to us, there is one persistent problem that is enough to make the biggest Fanboi stop and think for a moment. If you really want to buy one, even if (as with us) you’ve used every Note phone before it… try before you buy. Write a whole bunch of text, holding the phone as you normally would and see what happens.

That was written with a physical keyboard in Word. Here’s us, giving it a completely fair go, typing as we normally would on the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Note it’s fully [sic]…

There have brb some gushing reviews of this phone in t that re pass dtcc boi ill ole of days. But to us, there is one persistent problem that is enough to make the biggest fanboi stop and think for a moment. If you really want to but one, even if (as with us) you've used every note phone before it... try before you buy. That dodgy part in the first sentence – the bit that looks like a cat walked across the keyboard – occurs regularly: the keyboard input stalls for a moment and then blurts all that out. It appears to be caused by interference caused by other fingers touching the side of the bezel-less screen (which suddenly register for whatever reason) but we can’t be sure. It’s happened to us regularly all week. For comparison, we tried out the new Oppo F1S ($1000 cheaper). This is what it came up with using a freshly-downloaded Google Keyboard, straight out of the box…

There have been some fishing reviews of this phone in the past couple of days. But to us there is one persistent problem that is enough to make the biggest Fanboy stop and think for a moment. If you really want to buy one, even if (as with us) you've used every Now phone before it... Try before you buy. Write a while bunch of text, holding the phone as you normally would and see what happens. [ENDS]

There are the usual typos present but having used almost every phone on the market in the past few months, we can confidently say that nothing has proved a bigger correction-required grind than typing on the Note 7. Which is a shame as there’s much to like about it (beyond the price tag).

HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile Printer

The HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile Printer is a great device that fits perfectly into my fast paced and mobile lifestyle. My first impression of the printer itself was how incredibly compact and sleek the device was.

Wireless printing from my iPhone was also a handy feature, the whole experience was quick and seamless with no setup requirements - accessed through the default iOS printing menu options.

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.
