Vodafone customers will get Spotify Premium at no cost when they sign up to select Vodafone Red plans.
Spotify usually charges $12 per month for its premium package, which makes it possible to playback music without being interrupted by ads.
Vodafone customers will need to be contracted on $70 Red Plans and above to qualify for a free subscription. The $70 Red plan comes with 6 months free Spotify Premium, while the $80 and $100 Red Plans come with 1- and 2-year free subscriptions respectively.
Using the service will consume data. Vodafone estimates a person “streaming music for an hour every day would use between 1.5GB to 2GB of data per month".
Vodafone announced it had struck a deal with Spotify in October; however, the carrier waited until Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 went on sale before revealing the offer’s details.
The deal will help Spotify solidify its service on smartphones. Spotify’s catalogue consists of 20 million songs.
