Microsoft brings Nokia Lumia 735 to Australia for sub-$400

The Nokia Lumia 735 will also launch on postpaid plans from $30 a month

Microsoft is bringing the Nokia Lumia 735 to Australia for less than $400, or on postpaid plans from $30 a month.

The Lumia 735 is a 4G smartphone that comfortably nests between the inexpensive Lumia 635 and premium Lumia 930.

It has a 4.7-inch display packed with a 1280x720 resolution and a respected 312 pixels-per-inch (ppi).

Inside is a Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Powering the Windows smartphone is a 2200 milliamp-hour battery supportive of hassle-free wireless charging.

The Lumia 735 was unveiled earlier this month at the IFA show in Berlin. Nokia’s VP of mobile device sales, Chris Weber, said the 735’s front-camera could outperform that of the Samsung Galaxy used to take the famous ‘Oscar selfie’.

Weber called people on stage to recreate the photo and said four additional people could’ve been included had the Lumia 735 been used.

The Lumia 735’s front 5 megapixel camera has a wide-angle lens with a 24mm focal length and can record video in high-definition. The rear 6.7 megapixel camera benefits from an LED flash and Full HD video recording.

Running Windows Phone 8.1 means the Lumia 735 is tightly integrated with Microsoft services. Switching from voice calls to Skype — a service owned by Microsoft — can be performed in a single tap, while it works with Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint seamlessly.

Microsoft and Nokia have not confirmed if the Nokia Lumia 830 will be released in Australia. Good Gear Guide will update this article accordingly.

The Lumia 735 will be in stores 1 October. Carrier Vodafone will be offering the smartphone on a $30 postpaid plan, while retailers Dick Smith, Harvey Norman and JB Hi-fi will offer it outright for $399.

A smarter way to print for busy small business owners, combining speedy printing with scanning and copying, making it easier to produce high quality documents and images at a touch of a button.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.
