Galaxy S5: Samsung Australia launch event confirmed for 26 March

Samsung is holding its Australian launch event for the Galaxy S5 in less than three week’s time.

Samsung will hold an Australian launch event for its upcoming Galaxy S5 flagship on the 26 of March. Official invites issued to Australian press indicate Australia could be one of the first countries to launch the smartphone two weeks later.

Samsung unveiled its fifth Galaxy flagship on 26 February at its Samsung Unpacked event in Barcelona. Samsung’s chief executive, JK Shin, took to the stage and said the Galaxy S5 will roll out in almost one hundred markets on 11 April. It now appears Australia could very well be one of those lucky markets.

New features found in the Galaxy S5 include a Finger Scanner, a heart monitor, an improved 16MP camera, and resistance to water and dust.

Samsung has not yet clarified if Australia will be one of the markets to receive the quad-core 2.5GHz Galaxy S5, or the eight-core Exynos 5 variant. These details should be clarified at the launch event.

The smartphone will have a 5.1in, Full HD screen, 2GB of RAM, up to 32GB of internal storage and support for microSD memory cards up to 128GB.

Carriers including Vodafone, Optus, Telstra and Virgin are all registering pre-sale interest for the device, as well as retailers Kogan, Harvey Norman and Dick Smith.

If you can afford the price tag, it is well worth the money. It out performs any other laptop I have tried for gaming, and the transportable design and incredible display also make it ideal for work.
