Electronics vendor, Samsung Electronics, has unveiled its latest, highly-anticipated smartphone into the Australian market – the Samsung Galaxy S4 – and the company is expecting high growth rates with its introduction.

Samsung Electronics Australia senior vice-president and managing director, S.R. Yoon, said Samsung’s success follows its consumer adoption of its product range and the new phone will strengthen its leadership in the marketplace.

“Thanks to Australians falling in love with the Galaxy range, preference for Samsung continues to grow rapidly. We innovate with the consumer in mind and the Galaxy products continue to redefine what Australians want from their smart devices,” he said.

Yoon claimed the Samsung Galaxy S4 was made to be a consumer’s “life companion” and expects the new features added into it to significantly enhance their everyday mobile experiences.

Samsung Electronics Australia telecommunications vice-president, Tyler McGee, highlighted some of the smartphone’s features, which includes air view, air gesture, sound and shot, dual shot, drama shot, the s-translator, an upgraded Samsung Hub and group play.

McGee claimed the group play functionality, which allows photos, documents and music to be shared with up to eight Galaxy S4 phones, will be a key feature in tapping into the enterprise space.

“If you have a document that two people are working on, you both can look at the same document, make changes and share it,” he said.

McGee also unveiled two TV and video on demand services, via its WatchOn application, which will be available from July this year.

In addition, Samsung Electronics Australia has partnered with Foxtel to bring its Foxtel Go application to Samsung Android devices in June.

The Galaxy S4 comes in two shades, black mist and white frost.

It will be available for pre-order through Samsung's Experience Stores, and purchase from April 27 for $899. Additionally, it will be available through Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile on various contract plans from April 29.
