Square Enix releases Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII trailer

Sequel to last year’s Final Fantasy XIII-2 set for release this year

Square Enix has released the first trailer for its upcoming game, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

The video offers a first look at the more action-oriented combat system of the title, which is the third instalment in the Final Fantasy XIII series.

The video shows for the first time how the player has direct control of the character, as well as the Luxerion area from the game.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, the sequel to last year’s Final Fantasy XIII-2, marks the return of heroine Lightning in a world that only has 13 days before total annihilation.

The Final Fantasy XIII series marks a departure for Square Enix, which has so far rarely followed up with direct sequels to any of the Final Fantasy games.

The publisher briefly experimented with the concept by releasing a sequel to 2001's Final Fantasy X with 2003’s Final Fantasy X-2.

According to Square Enix, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is pencilled in for release in 2013.

The music used in the trailer, titled “Crimson Blitz” by series composer Masashi Hamauzu, is available for download on the iTunes Store.

MSI GS75

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
