Canon EOS Photo5 winners announced

Six winning images meet judges' criteria

Canon has announced the winners of its annual Photo5 community photo competition, with six photographs winning their creators a three-day workshop and holiday.

The five briefs were Wind, Spaghetti, Tissue Paper, Little People and Fishing Wire, with an additional prize for the strongest portfolio of five photos.

The Wind brief was won by Elev8 Photography, with a pinwheel slow-shutter photo titled Colour Motion.

Spaghetti was a portraiture brief won by Jono Ward, with Enlightenment.

Tissue Paper was won by Physics At Work by 'sjm', with wine glasses filled with water to distort the shape of coloured tissue rolls.

Little People used miniature plastic figurines, with the prize awarded to Jerseygirl bringing a snail, a plastic man and a shoe's sole together in a puddle of water.

The monochrome Fishing Wire brief went to 'waysor' for a portrait through strands of wire.

The overall portfolio winner was Kylie Garner, with five strong photographs covering the briefs.

Two winning photographers used entry-level Canon EOS 450D and 600D cameras, one used a professional EOS 5D Mark II, and two used enthusiasts' EOS 50D and 60D.

The winners were announced in an email to all contestants:

"This year's EOS Photo5 has been incredible. You only have to look at the winning images to see the standard of entries."
