Apple to introduce new AirPlay Direct technology with iPhone 5

Apple is said to be planning to launch AirPlay Direct technology that allows wireless music playback without the need for a WiFi network.

There has been some speculation that the launch of the new iPhone 5 will write-off expensive Hi-Fis that use the current 30-pin connector, with Apple rumoured to be planning to introduce a smaller 8-pin connector with the new iPhone.

However, it has emerged that manufacturers may not need to worry about iPad and iPhone ports on their devices anymore. Apple is said to be planning to launch AirPlay Direct technology that allows wireless music playback without the need for a WiFi network.

Telegraph sources claim that Apple wants to improve the AirPlay wireless music streaming technology currently available.

AirPlay technology as it stands requires AirPlay-ready speakers and a Wi-Fi network, the new technology will require just speakers or a Hi-Fi and an iPhone, iPad, or iPod, with the Apple device forming its own network that allows for a direct connection with the speakers.

According to the Telegraph report, this technology would bring Apple's devices into line with Android devices, which use Bluetooth to connect to speakers.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
