3D video shows iPhone 5 next to Samsung Galaxy S3

New video shows next-generation iPhone and best-of-class Android phone side-by-side

The next-generation of iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 5, is likely to be announced on 12 September and will go head-to-head this Christmas with Android's most popular smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S3.

While Apple has remained typically reticent about the new iPhone (the sixth-generation of iPhone), a series of leaked parts, and supposedly leaked information (plus some firmer facts such as changes to the iPhone simulator), indicate a larger and longer screen, smaller dock connector and thinner casing.

This new video, uploaded to the AnimatedVisual account, is based upon various leaks from Asian site iLab factory and conforms to what the current consensus of what the next-generation iPhone will look like. What's interesting is that it places the iPhone 5 rumour side-by-side with the current Samsung Galaxy S3.

The new-look iPhone is sleeker, and the screen is the same height, but slightly thinner. It's still smaller than the Samsung Galaxy S3, but looks like a better device. It looks like this holiday season could be an interesting battle between Samsung and Apple.
