Bose slims down new VideoWave II all-in-one TV

New VideoWave II Entertainment System has a thinner body, new design and controls

Bose VideoWave II Entertainment System

Bose has updated its VideoWave all-in-one TV-and-home-theatre-speaker system, with a new LED-backlit display and screen design for the just-announced VideoWave II. A larger 55in screen size also joins the existing 46in model.

The new LED backlit display of the Bose VideoWave II means the system is thinner and lighter than the original, making wall-mounting it easier. The system uses the same break-out control box, with a single cable connecting an external receiver directly to the TV. This receiver can connect up to six devices like an Apple TV, controlling them with an on-screen interface in conjunction with Bose's click pad remote control.

A dark brushed aluminium finish replaces the plastic bezel of the first VideoWave model, although the table stand remains unchanged.

The key selling point of the Bose VideoWave Entertainment System is its eleven integrated speakers, built into the back of the TV's chassis. These speakers are angled to fire from the top, base, and sides of the VideoWave, reflecting from the ceiling and walls to create a faux-surround sound effect. An integrated subwoofer allows low-frequency effects far superior to any other TV.

The VideoWave II retains the eye-watering price tag of the previous model, with the 46in display available from the end of July in Bose stores for $6,999 and the new 55in screen size pegged at $7,999 — two thousand dollars short of LG's revolutionary OLED TV.
