The Nokia Lumia 800 will be sold on multiple Telstra plans, all on 24 month contracts. Telstra's hero plan appears to be $59 Freedom Connect plan — the Lumia 800 is $0 upfront on this plan which includes with $550 worth of included calls and MMS messages, unlimited SMS messages and 1.5GB of data per month. Additionally, the Lumia 800 is available for $10 per month on Telstra's $49 Freedom Connect plan and $0 on the $79 and $99 plans, all over 24 months.

Telstra says the Nokia Lumia 800 will be available through metropolitan Telstra Stores from Tuesday 13 March, but regional stores and other Telstra retail outlets will receive stock "progressively after this date."

Australian models of the Lumia 800 are available in black, blue (cyan), pink (magenta) and white colours, though Telstra will only sell black and white versions of the phone. The telco says black models of the Lumia 800 will be available from launch but white models will be sold from Tuesday 20 March onwards.

Telstra's announcement makes it the last telco in Australia to sell the Lumia 800. Optus was the first to reveal its plan details, while Vodafone quietly published its pricing on its blog late last month. Both Optus and Vodafone began selling the Lumia 800 late last month.

The Lumia 800 is the first Nokia smartphone to run the Microsoft powered Windows Phone platform and shares an almost identical physical design to Nokia's MeeGo-powered N9 smartphone. It has a 3.7in AMOLED display, is powered by a single-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor, has 512MB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. It also has an 8-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics that doubles as a 720p HD video recorder.

Both the Lumia 800 and the Lumia 710 were unveiled globally in October last year and are the result of Nokia's decision in February 2011 to switch from Symbian to the Windows Phone platform for its core smartphones.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
