Apple's iPad 2 is now available from all three major Australian telcos after Optus announced that it would begin to sell the tablet from today on a range of contract plans.

Optus will sell all three models of iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G connectivity — 16GB, 32GB and 64GB — on a range of two-year plans. Unlike Vodafone, Optus will not offer the iPad 2 on shorter, 12 month plans.

"By offering the iPad 2 on the Optus Open Network, we are giving Australians more reason than ever before to choose Optus this Christmas," said Optus' consumer marketing director, Gavin Williams. "Our great range of value plans, along with greater rewards such as our partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer, give customers the freedom to enjoy all the game changing features the revolutionary iPad 2 has to offer."

Optus will sell the 16GB iPad 2 for $0 up front on $49 Optus tablet plan which includes 4GB of data per month. The same plan for the highest-capacity 64GB iPad 2 will cost an extra $10 per month (totalling $59 per month) over 24 months. Optus also offers $19, $29, $39, $59 and $79 tablet plans, with pricing varied depending on which iPad 2 model is purchased.

The iPad 2 is available at "selected Optus retail locations" and online through the Optus Web site.
