The Monday 6 June kick-off of the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference will include the official unveiling of the new Apple desktop operating system OS X Lion, iOS 5 for mobile devices, and the Apple iCloud online service.

OS X Lion includes new features like integrated server software, full-screen window resizing, a redesigned Mail layout, and AirDrop wireless file sharing. The Mac App Store will also be a central component of the new operating system, offering verified malware-free Mac software downloads and purchases — it already offers a wide range of popular free third-party and paid Apple apps like Aperture and the iLife suite of lifestyle software through Apple's current Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

Information on iCloud is currently light on the ground, with Apple acquiring the iCloud.com domain name in June for a possible US$4.5 million figure. Speculation suggests that the service may begin as or include an online music storage or streaming component, similar to the newly-announced Google Music and Amazon Cloud Player.

iOS 5 is expected to rely heavily upon cloud services, with a possible location service for tracking friends and family and a revamp of MobileMe.
