ViewSonic's V350: the world's first dual-SIM Android smartphone

ViewSonic has unveiled the world's first dual-SIM Android smartphone, the V350.

Check out our guide to the best upcoming smartphones in 2011, and read our comprehensive ViewSonic ViewPad 7 Android tablet review.

Officially announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Spain, Barcelona, last week, the ViewSonic V350 Android phone is an active dual-SIM device, enabling the use of two network services simultaneously.

Dual-SIM capability is not popular in Australia. It is mainly targeted at businesses wishing to provide staff with a smartphone that can offer separate numbers and bills for personal and business use.

The ViewSonic V350 Android phone has a 3.5in capacitive touchscreen, runs the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, and has a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera, a microSD card for extra memory and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity.

"Our V350 smartphone is one of the most functional dual-SIM phones on the market," said ViewSonic's Alan Chang. "With Android GMS for access to more than 200,000 Google applications, it has powerful multimedia capabilities and with both SIM cards active, you can place and receive calls on each at any time. The Dual-SIM proposition is compelling and will generate considerable market uptake this year."

ViewSonic also showcased its 10in ViewPad 10PRO tablet and its ViewPad 4 Android phone at MWC. The ViewPad 10Pro is a commercial tablet PC with dual boot functionality between Microsoft Windows 7 and Google Android 2.2 Froyo, while the ViewPad 4 Android phone has a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera that doubles as a 720p HD video recorder and HDMI-out.

ViewSonic has not yet announced whether the V350, ViewPad 4 and ViewPad 10Pro products will be released in Australia.

A smarter way to print for busy small business owners, combining speedy printing with scanning and copying, making it easier to produce high quality documents and images at a touch of a button.

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.
