Tru launches 'global' mobile phone service

Offers discounted mobile phone call rates from the UK and US; other countries coming 'shortly'

Mobile telecommunications service provider Tru states that it can offer mobile phone global roaming rates that are significantly lower than competitors. The company claims savings of over 75 per cent on call rates when overseas in the US and UK, and data usage fees that are up to 99 per cent cheaper than the roaming rates of Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and 3.

Buying a Tru SIM card — which differs from normal SIM cards in that it can hold multiple IMSI numbers, allowing 'local' numbers to be used overseas — from the Tru Web site costs $29.99, and includes $15 of prepaid credit. Business users are able to organise a post-paid contract, but individuals are restricted to prepaid use — with an optional monthly membership payment of $15 to use the service overseas. If this monthly payment is not made, the SIM card can only be used within Australia and incurs higher rates.

Tru's mobile phone offering uses the Optus network throughout Australia. When roaming overseas, the Tru service uses a network of service providers local to that area. Tru international mobile roaming is currently only available in the UK and US, but the company plans to expand its presence shortly to include Hong Kong, Spain and the Netherlands. Full details of the service's rates can be found on the Tru Web site.

I need power and lots of it. As a Front End Web developer anything less just won’t cut it which is why the MSI GT75 is an outstanding laptop for me. It’s a sleek and futuristic looking, high quality, beast that has a touch of sci-fi flare about it.
