Telstra today announced that it will be the exclusive launch partner for the new BlackBerry Pearl 3G smartphone, which will launch in Australia in late May.

Exclusive to Telstra for three months, the BlackBerry Pearl 3G is RIM's latest smartphone and is the first model in the 'Pearl' series to feature 3G network connectivity, offering faster data speeds. The BlackBerry Pearl 3G also includes Wi-Fi, GPS, and a physical SureType keyboard.

"Telstra is pleased to be the launch partner for this slim and powerful smartphone which will be available exclusively for three months on Telstra's Next G network, said Ross Fielding, Telstra executive director of mobility products.

"The BlackBerry Pearl 3G smartphone features the famous push-based BlackBerry email experience. It's light and compact and makes one-handed typing simple. We expect it to be a new 'must have' fashion accessory as well as an attractive way for consumers to upgrade from a traditional phone to a smartphone."

Telstra hasn't announced pricing, plans or a release date, but did state that the Pearl 3G is "set to arrive in Australia later this month" in royal purple and piano black colours. The telco confirmed the smartphone will be available for both business and consumer customers and comes on the back of Telstra's new post-paid mobile plans which were officially released yesterday.

People can pre-register their interest in the BlackBerry Pearl 3G smartphone by visiting Telstra's dedicated BlackBerry Pearl 3G site.

I need power and lots of it. As a Front End Web developer anything less just won’t cut it which is why the MSI GT75 is an outstanding laptop for me. It’s a sleek and futuristic looking, high quality, beast that has a touch of sci-fi flare about it.
