Call of Duty Black Ops Trailer Live

Treyarch debuts cryptic teaser trailer for seventh Call of Duty first-person shooter and a bunch of stuff blows up

As promised, the Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer is now live, available on developer Treyarch's just-launched website for the modern military shooter. Like most teaser trailers, it's also a bit Delphic, a boisterous muddle of flashbulb images and sinister voiceovers that don't mean much to me.

Missiles launching, exploding laboratories, snowsuit soldiers in wintry environs, crashing helicopters, guys in bandanas, Hueys hovering over cities in flames, and lots more stuff blowing up. I guess we're glimpsing stuff set in Cuba, the Arctic and Vietnam, if GAME's description turns out to be accurate. The UK game retailer inadvertently preempted Treyarch by publishing the following on its site for the game (a description that's since been yanked).

"Now you will witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and take part in off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done," reads GAME's description. "From Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam, Call of Duty: Black Ops features stunning cinematic graphics and intense gameplay that puts you right at the heart of the action!"

That's it for now. Expect Activision to blow the lid off the game at E3 in mid-June.
