Dragon's Lair coming to DSiWare next week

Don Bluth's interactive cartoon adventure romps onto the DSi

Dirk the Daring finally returns next week to do battle with the evil dragon Singe across both screens of the DSi.

The same game that took arcades by storm in 1983 with movie-quality visuals from former Disney animator Don Bluth has since been ported to a number of modern gaming platforms, most recently as a US$4.99 iPhone app.

An earlier (cancelled) version of the DS game was expected to include features like infinite lives and voice recognition, but developer Digital Leisure has not commented on whether they will be included. Unlike previous mobile versions of the arcade classic, the DSiWare version will include full animated scenes pulled directly off the original laserdisc. No word yet on how much the DSiWare version will cost, but American consumers can expect to pick it up December 22nd, while European Dirk fans are stuck waiting until New Year's Day.
