• Internet spam increased by three percent during September averaging 32 percent of all spam

• Financial spam decreased by 3 percent in September to account for 17 percent of all spam

• While Christmas and Halloween spam continues, these ‘holiday’ spam campaigns are diversifying. Recent attacks have targeted Diwali, the Indian “Festival of Lights”, and the Chinese Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

• Russian spam volumes showed fluctuations with peaks occurring on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays

• Degree spam messages have evolved and are now directing recipients to specific courses including policing, nursing and teaching. It is interesting to note that these careers are generally stable in the current economic environment
