ZTE launches faster data card

The MF662 data card from ZTE supports download and upload rates of up to 21.6Mbps and 5.76Mbps, the company announced on Monday

ZTE's latest MF662 data card supports download and upload rates of up to 21.6Mbps (megabits per second) and 5.76Mbps respectively, the company announced on Monday.

The card is based on HSPA+ (High-Speed Packet Access), also known as Evolved HSPA or HSPA Evolved.

Besides higher speeds, the technology will also allow lower latency — improving, for example, online gaming performance.

The increased speed will also improve performance on services including mobile TV, downloading music, TV and film clips, and large-volume mail services, ZTE said in a statement.

The card measures 69x27x12mm. Pricing and availability for the card wasn't announced.

Operators including 3 Scandinavia, Telstra in Australia and StarHub in Singapore have all announced plans to launch services.

Vodafone has also expressed interest in the technology and has trialed the HSPA+ on its network in southern Spain and Madrid city center, it said on Monday, but announced no specific launch plans.

It’s perfect for mobile workers. Just take it out — it’s small enough to sit anywhere — turn it on, load a sheet of paper, and start printing.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.
