After conceding a month to Xbox 360 in September, Nintendo's plucky Wii regains the top spot as the most widely purchased console in America.
According to NPD, which tracks monthly U.S. video game sales, Wii sold 520,000 units in the month of October followed closely by the DS with 460,000 units sold.
Microsoft dropped to the third spot with 370,000 units sold during the same period with Sony rounding out the bottom three systems: PSP sales of 290,000 units, PS2 sales of 180,000, and PS3 sales of 120,000 (before November's price cut).
Halo 3 remained the top selling game for the second consecutive month, followed by Guitar Hero III on 360, Wii, and PS2 in that order, and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for DS.
