Toshiba tunes in to MP3 player market with latest gigabeat U

<p>Available in blue, white and pink, the new gigabeat U201 MP3 player from Toshiba (Australia) Pty Limited’s Information Systems Division (ISD) is a colourful, amped-up statement for those music lovers looking for ‘that something different’. For an affordable price of $199 including GST, it is packed with features including enhanced audio playback and new capabilities like line-in recording, FM tuner and FM transmitter.</p>
<p>For those music fans that want it all and at no extra cost, the gigabeat U features an FM tuner as standard, allowing users to tune in to their favourite radio stations, and an FM transmitter for those that want to pipe music through a home or car radio or even another U series gigabeat.</p>
<p>Measuring an impressive 76.5mm by 36.2mm by 10.9mm and weighing just 36g, the palm-sized gigabeat U is a 2GB NAND flash player capable of storing up to 500 songs or 2,000 photos. With direct-to-MP3 player music ripping technology, it enables users to conveniently transfer songs from CDs directly to the gigabeat U through its line-in headphone jack. End result? Users who are away from a computer can still transfer music by ripping it directly into the gigabeat U201.</p>
<p>For convenience on the go, the gigabeat U201 has a quick 10 minute charge feature that will provide up to 3 hours of continuous music playback. With a full charge, users will enjoy up to 20 hours of entertainment from a device that will play today’s most popular audio file formats, including MP3, WMA and WAV.</p>
<p>For enhanced audio quality, the gigabeat U201 also features a built-in equalizer, which allows users to adjust the sound output by either using preset settings, or by manually adjusting the highs and lows to suit their own preferences.</p>
