Sony's Warwick Light, head of New Zealand marketing, said on Tuesday that the company hopes to release a digital TV tuner for PS3 sometime in 2008.
"We're also hoping next year... to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder," Light told The Press in an interview.
"A lot of people think that the PS3 is just a games machine. It's not a games machine. Well (laughs), it is, but it isn't (laughs again). It's a future-proofed super computer."
Sony could not immediately be reached to verify Light's comment.
