The small and light GPS PDA phone

SYDNEY, Australia, 12 December 2006 - Dopod International (Australia and New Zealand) Pty Ltd, ABN 48 119 011 639 (hereinafter called “Dopod International”), Asia’s leading PDA phone and Smartphone provider, has today announced the launch of the P800W, an innovative Global Positioning System (GPS) enabled phone.

Users who purchase additional GPS Map software for their device are able to have the P800W automatically place satellite coordinates into any outdoor photos they take. This simply means that friends or family who receive the photo via email on the P800W will be able to easily navigate their way to that point of interest.

In addition to its GPS capabilities, the P800W is a feature-packed PDA phone that offers high-speed wireless LAN access, Wifi, in-built FM Radio, Bluetooth, Quad Band GSM and a Unique Common Manager for managing connectivity. It also boasts a high-resolution 2.0 megapixel camera which supports picture taking with GPS co-ordinates.

At just 128 grams and just 16.8 mm thin the P800W is the first GPS enabled PDA phone with photo navigation you can find. It is the perfect PDA phone as it includes a scroll wheel and track ball – ideal tools when using the zoom function on the camera. With its cool iron grey colour and stylish design, it is the ultimate travel companion on the road.

By purchasing the additional GPS Map software, the P800W will prove especially useful for busy executives rushing from one appointment to the next, as users will always know the directions to their destination. No more flipping through torn, tattered and outdated street directories or road maps, or stopping to ask for directions. The device also boasts a Network Wizard which allows users to change from one operator to another without any fuss.

Jack Tong, CEO of Dopod International Corp says, “We have achieved many firsts, and the P800W is no exception. This truly unique GPS enabled phone represents Dopod International’s ability to present the world’s leading technologies and state-of the-art design capabilities into must-have mobility tools for our customers.”

In addition, users can expect a new initiative from Dopod International called NaviGuide - a web portal that allows GPS users to upload their GPS photos of their adventures and travels, favourite restaurants, and more. This will enable them to share their own personal points of interest and favourite spots with their friends and the community at large. NaviGuide is expected to be ready for all users by early 2007.

The P800W operates on the Windows Mobile 5.0 platform and comes with a 128MB built-in ROM and 64MB RAM memory with persistent storage. The device is equipped with Microsoft Office programs like Outlook Mobile, Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile, IE Mobile and Windows Media Player 10 Mobile. In addition, users can also have access to Adobe Reader (PDF), Sprite Backup, Activesync, Comm Manager, Internet sharing, Network Wizard and Audio Manager. Connectivity options include high speed Wireless LAN 802.11b/g, Bluetooth v2.0 and quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE. Being a GPS phone, the P800W has the SiRF III chipset with 20 parallel channel receiver.

Users can also access Pocket MSN and have their emails pushed to them. Adding to the phone’s sleek form and features are its 2.8-inch QVGA display screen and Phonepad input option as well as the Audio Manager which allows users to customise their preferred ring tomes from an MP3 Player.

Pricing & Availability

The P800W from Dopod International is available now at all authorized retailers at a suggested retail price (inclusive of GST) of A$1,329.

All prices are subject to pricing policies of individual operators.
