Thinking of chucking the ol' iPod and replacing it with one of those sweet music phones you've been hearing about? Think a little longer. According to a newly posted review on our sister site PCWorld.com, Sony Ericsson's W810 and LG's Fusic are both solid music phones, but they aren't quite ready to stand in for the iPod--yet.
Both phones play MP3 and AAC files from memory cards, and both are able to pause and resume music when a call comes in. The Sony Ericsson is more of a music phone, though; it comes with an FM radio and lets you start up in music mode or in full-on phone mode. The Fusic includes an FM transmitter (for playing tunes over a car stereo) and hooks into the Sprint music store, from which you can buy songs for US$2.50 (approx. AU$3.50) a pop.
Bottom line is, while both devices play music, neither seems to be an adequate music player. So, sorry, but your dreams of a single-gadget-world will have to wait a little longer...
