Imation Disc Stakka Wins Prestigious Design Award

 • 26 May, 2006 16:16

The Australian-designed Imation Disc Stakka CD & DVD Manager has received a prestigious 2006 Australian Design Award in the Business and Technology category.

This clever device stores, manages and protects CD’s, DVD’s and all other types of 12cm discs. The accompanying OpdiTracker software allows the Disc Stakka to provide “virtually online” access to the discs, as well as their content. Each USB-powered unit holds 100 discs and has built-in connectors that allow multiple units to be stacked without requiring extra cables or desk space.

Opdicom Pty Ltd, based in Melbourne, invented this unique hardware and software solution and collaborated on the product design with Invetech Pty Ltd, another Melbourne-based company and recipient of numerous prior design awards.

Opdicom partnered with US-based Imation Corporation, to market and distribute the product on a worldwide basis, which is now available in 11 languages. More than 120,000 Disc Stakkas have been sold in over 80 countries.

Opdicom’s CEO, Marty Crosby, proudly accepted the award at a gala ceremony in Sydney. He thanked the Australian Design committee, the Opdicom board for its fully-committed support and the employees at Opdicom for their dedicated efforts. He also acknowledged both partners, Invetech and Imation, who have contributed immensely to the success of the Disc Stakka.

Mr Crosby said "It was gratifying just to be nominated for the Australian Design Award, but to actually win it is most special, and acknowledges several years of hard work. It is remarkable that a small start-up company can achieve such global success in such a short span of time, and be honoured with a design excellence award. The teams at Opdicom, Invetech and Imation all deserve credit for their ingenuity and dedication."

I need power and lots of it. As a Front End Web developer anything less just won’t cut it which is why the MSI GT75 is an outstanding laptop for me. It’s a sleek and futuristic looking, high quality, beast that has a touch of sci-fi flare about it.

If you can afford the price tag, it is well worth the money. It out performs any other laptop I have tried for gaming, and the transportable design and incredible display also make it ideal for work.
