Top Vendors, Analysts and Expert Practitioners Combine at SNW to Deliver Storage Knowledge to Users

Sydney, Australia – May 22, 2006 - SNIA ANZ, the local chapter of the global not for profit storage and data management standards and education body, today announced that their SNW event has received record support, making it the largest storage event in SE Asia.

SNIA’s Storage Networking World (SNW) to be held in Sydney on September 26th and 27th is part of SNIA’s global event series held in USA, Japan, China and Europe. Now in its second year in Australia, SNW has already doubled its sponsor support and delegates are expected to also increase 100% from last year, according to SNIA Executive Director, Rob Stirling.

“We have put a lot more emphasis on users and experts sharing storage and data information this year,” said Stirling. “The storage and data management and security markets are finally melding and users need to know so much more than just NAS or SAN, disk or tape. Our theme this year of “Building a Storage Foundation for the Information Driven Enterprise” sets the scene for the move away from pure play storage into the process of advising on wider information issues.”

“Being an industry body we have been able to attract to the delegate arena the best storage analysts from Gartner and IDC, the best legal experts from Gilbert and Tobin and Deacons, the best technical experts from SNIA USA and Europe discussing storage security, IP storage and storage management, experts from RMAA on records management and archiving, and best of all some of ANZ’s most advanced storage users who will share their experiences with delegates. Presenting users at the conference include Catholic Education Office, Millennium Hotels from NZ, Deakin University, WebCentral and many others.”

At the time of writing 27 leading ANZ storage vendors will participate in the two day exhibition in support of the conference. The exhibition area will be open to the general public free of charge and of course to the official delegates. The exhibition area will host a “Storage for the Masses” seminar area, where vendors will present case studies and technical solutions to address the storage and data management challenges specific to small to medium sized businesses in the region. Also on display will be a SNIA Interoperability Centre demonstrating, via a live hook up to the SNIA labs in Colorado, the benefits of SMI-S standard interoperability between competitors equipment. SNIA will also be running a Tutorials area for education and training on the exhibition floor.

“We are working with IDC and our members in New Zealand to bring over at least 20 of their leading users this year and expect to do the same for SE Asia, it is rewarding to see SNW grow so strongly and develop into such a well respected educational forum for the region,” said SNIA Chair, Mr Jacob Van der Eyk.

Major sponsors this year include:

Acer, EMC, HP, CA, IBM, Symantec, Hitachi, NetApp, Brocade, Imation, Quantum, Intel to name a few. For a full list of supporting solution providers please visit
