NetComm Launches High Definition USB Television Tuner
- 22 March, 2006 10:14

NetComm, a leading Australian provider of communications products and solutions, has announced the launch of a High Definition USB Television Tuner from its Banksia Digital range of consumer/computer electronics. The Banksia Digital HDUSBTV06 is designed to turn a computer into a TV and digital recording device.

“The Banksia TV Tuner offers an alternative to high definition digital set-top boxes, but also provides an additional digital recording function,” said David Stewart, Managing Director, NetComm. “The unit is an ideal solution for people who want high quality viewing and recording without the major expense of a digital set-top box. It can provide a portable TV solution for business travelers and is perfect for families who need an ‘extra television’.”

The HD USB TV tuner works by turning a computer into a Personal Video Recorder (PVR). A PVR is a television recording device – normally a sophisticated set-top box with integrated hard drive and recording capability. PVRs can record and play back television programs and then store them in digital form.

“Many high-definition PVR’s retail for over $800, so this is a great alternative for people who already have a computer and want to turn it into a PVR,” said David Stewart.

The Banksia Digital TV Tuner simply connects into a USB port (a USB2.0 port is preferable for higher quality viewing), allowing your computer to instantly play High Definition television and radio. The device also allows users to schedule and record television programs directly to their computer’s hard drive.

High Definition digital television services are available through all free-to-air broadcasters (the ABC, Channel 7, Nine Network and Channel 10), in all of the Australian capital cities.

The Banksia Digital HD USB TV Tuner is available now through NetComm product stockists nationally and is priced at $199 (inc. GST). Product inquiries can be made to NetComm on (02) 9424 2070 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
