Mitel Enhances Microsoft Integration with Release 7 of Enterprise IP Telephony Communications Platform

<p>Sydney, 1st March 2006 – Mitel®, a leading provider of IP communications solutions, today announced Release 7 of the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP), which delivers major enhancements to their flagship enterprise IP communications platform.</p>

The Mitel 3300 Live Business Gateway provides seamless integration between the 3300 ICP, legacy communications solutions, Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 and the Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 integrated communications client. Now available, and installed in customer sites, Live Business Gateway leverages legacy environments and simplifies communications between businesses. With Live Business Gateway, users can invoke telephony and presence features from within the Microsoft Office suite of applications and from within Mitel applications including Mitel Customer Interaction Solutions and Mitel NuPoint Messenger IP.</p>
<p>Mobility Solutions with Mobile Extension
Mitel Mobile Extension rounds out Mitel’s broad suite of Mobility Solutions that address personal mobility, campus mobility and enterprise mobility for corridor warriors, teleworkers and staff on the road. Mobile Extension enables a 3300 ICP or Mitel SX-200 IP Communications Platform (ICP) user to link their deskphone with an internal or external PSTN-connected phone (i.e. a cell phone or wireless handset). When the user's desk phone rings, the twinned phone will ring simultaneously. The twinning feature allows users to manage and publish one contact number, providing a truly integrated mobile and desktop experience.</p>
<p>Mobile Extension extends some of the most popular PBX features to this twinned device, providing mobile employees with office-like PBX telephony features, regardless of their location or telephone device.</p>
<p>Messaging Solutions – Carrier Grade, Enterprise Priced
Release 10 of the Mitel NuPoint Messenger IP Model 640 provides higher scalability and resiliency expanding from eight to 240 ports and over 100,000 mailboxes. Using state-of-the-art technology and leveraging open industry standards such as SIP, Mitel builds on NuPoint Messenger IP’s leadership position as an open, standards-based messaging solution. The carrier-grade messaging solution ensures maximum flexibility for technology evolution without the need for costly upgrades or replacements.
