Optima Technology Solutions (ASX:OPI), the leading Australian computer manufacturer, has launched a compact, high-performance Centoris notebook designed for demanding business environments.

The Optima Centoris RW Series notebook is based on an Intel Pentium M Processor with a 533/400 MHz front side bus that has been optimised for use in thin, lightweight notebooks. Weighing only 2.2kg, the new notebook is able to execute instructions faster using less power, enabling it to easily support a range of applications.

“The RW Series notebook is an ultra-portable, feature-rich notebook that uses the latest Intel Centrino Mobile Technology to offer maximum support for people on the move,” said Magnus Long, Notebook Product Manager, Optima. “Hitting the market at a sub-$1600 price point, it’s affordable and adaptable, featuring a range of integrated expansion I/O ports that allow for connection to a variety of devices, ranging from camcorders to external hard drives.”

The RW Series has been maximised for media use, featuring an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900 that supports up to 128MB of memory, delivering outstanding visual quality, colour and 3D graphics performance. The notebook also includes an Intel 915GM Express Chipset, which supports Intel’s new PCI Express graphics interface and up to 2GB of DDR2 memory for bandwidth-hungry applications.

“Although the RW Series is compact and lightweight unit, its still features a 14-inch widescreen display, which offers the same viewing space as a standard 15-inch LCD panel,” said Long. “This display size is favored by occupational health and safety boards as it allows for a more comfortable viewing experience for end-users, minimising eye strain.”

The notebook features a Li-Ion 6 Cell battery and is designed from the ground up to deliver maximum mobility, using an Intel PRO/Wireless Network Card to deliver continuous tri-mode (802.11a/b/g) access to the Internet and network resources. The RW Series also features Windows XP Professional to offer premium support for business applications.

The Centoris RW Series (RRP: $1599 inc GST) comes with a three-year return-to-base warranty and is currently available from Optima and its nationwide dealer network.
