Optima Technology Solutions (ASX:OPI), the leading Australian computer manufacturer, has developed three high-performance notebooks featuring the latest Intel Centrino® Duo mobile technology.

The new Intel technology delivers dual-core processing power to notebooks, significantly enhancing their mobile performance. It includes a variety of power-saving features that extend notebook battery life and offers increased wireless capabilities, allowing users to connect to most available industry standards-based networks and determine how dynamically their notebook will roam to a new access point.

“The Intel Core Duo processor represents a fundamental shift in the industry towards more power-efficient, multi-core processors,” said Ross Owen, National Sales Manager (OEM) for Intel Australia. “Using Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology based notebooks, people can immerse themselves more fully in their music, games and high-definition movies, TV, and video. For work, Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology can improve productivity as well as support enhanced connectivity and security, enabling people to more easily work where and when they want.”

Optima is among the first of local manufacturers to incorporate the Intel technology into its notebooks, expanding its popular Centoris range to accommodate the new processors.

“Intel’s dual-core technology enables us to provide customers with smaller, more compact notebooks that can simultaneously run a variety of demanding business and entertainment applications,” said Ole Mortensen, Product Marketing Manager, Optima. “We’ve developed three new notebooks featuring the dual-core processors that target three different types of users - multimedia enthusiasts, road warriors and the value conscious – ensuring the broad market appeal and uptake of this technology.”

The first of the new Optima notebooks is the Centoris TW Series, which is ideal for graphic intensive applications. It features an NVIDIA G72M mobile graphics processor that delivers high-quality video and graphics performance, specifically designed for use in thin, lightweight notebooks. The TW Series also includes a Mobile Intel 945PM Express chipset and a 15.4-inch widescreen display.

Weighing under 2.1kg, the Centoris DW Series notebook is ultra portable and designed for people always on the move. Compact and durable, the DW Series is based on an Intel 945GM Express Chipset that minimises power consumption, and also includes an embedded graphics chip and 12-inch widescreen display.

The Centoris SW Series notebook offers corporate users the new Intel dual-core technology at a low price point. Stable and sturdy, the SW Series features an Intel 945GM Express Chipset, 14-inch widescreen display, embedded graphics and 4-in-1 card reader.

The three new Optima notebooks will be available in March from Optima and its value-added resellers.
