New product: Caplio R30 digital camera
RRP: $449
Available: 24 January 2005

Ricoh extends its range of small but powerful digital cameras with the release of the Caplio R30. Offering high performance features and exceptional value for money, the 5.25-megapixel Caplio R30 is ideal for both new and experienced photographers.

Over the past 15 months Ricoh has been setting new benchmarks with its optical zoom range of slimline digital cameras, and the new Caplio R30 doesn’t disappoint. It offers an impressive 5.7x (28mm wide-angle – 160mm telephoto) precision zoom lens and an advanced 1cm macro mode.

Despite this outstanding lens power, the camera is completely housed within a 26mm slim body. All this is thanks to Ricoh’s unique double retracting lens system which splits the lens shaft into three smaller segments.

An extra large 2.5 inch high definition LCD screen enables easy viewing of images. The screen can be brightened or darkened to suit outside lighting conditions while text and icons can be enlarged or reduced to suit the owner.

Ricoh is also known for its fast shooting compact digital cameras and the Caplio R30 continues this tradition. An improved hybrid autofocus system enables it to focus and shoot in a mere 0.09 of a second and with the focus lock achieved it shoots in an almost instantaneous 0.007 of a second.

The Caplio R30 is adequately equipped to handle a variety of different exposure settings with easy-to-use scene modes. A multipoint focus system also helps to confirm pre-shooting focus accuracy while the angle correction mode straightens skewed images.

High quality movies with sound add to the Caplio R30 photography experience. The amount of continuous AVI video is limited only by the memory capacity of the SD card in use.

Like all Ricoh cameras, the Caplio R30 includes a long lasting lithium-ion rechargeable battery that can take more than 330 standard shots off a single charge.

The Ricoh Caplio R30 is available from 20 January 2006 and comes in a black or champagne metal finish. RRP: $449 inc GST.

Ricoh photographic products are sold through more than 1500 outlets nationally, including leading camera specialists and electronics retailers.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
