NCT-240 IP DSLAM is a smaller and affordable internet access solution, designed for sites with less than 24 rooms, adding depth to the NetComm DSLAM offering

Sydney - December 1, 2007 - NetComm, a leading Australian provider of communications products and solutions, today introduced the NCT-240 IP DSLAM – which has been designed to allow smaller commercial properties to capitalize on the demand for internet access.

A NetComm IP DSLAM provides an effective way to utilize a existing phone lines, to offer high-speed internet access to guests and tenants. The NCT-240 with 24 ports and in-build splitters, allows users flexibility in the style of internet connection they have connected to their property, and offers triple play services; high speed internet access, Voice over IP (cost effective internet phone calls) and Video on Demand.

Typical IP DSLAMs range from 24 through to 288 ports, covering small to large multi-complex environments. NetComm’s Managing Director, David Stewart explains that smaller property owners’ don’t require an IP DSLAM model with a large port capacity. The NCT-240 has a practical 24 port capacity, meaning smaller property owners’ can afford internet access for their guests, and create an additional revenue stream.

“We have seen a solid national take up of our larger DSLAM range” he says, “Interestingly, the feedback from our reseller base is that there is a section of the hotel and motel market with sub 24 rooms that are that too big for wireless to be completely effective. They are also looking for a solution that allows them to use their existing infrastructure. These sites would like to have the fully integrated systems working with the PMS systems and automatically managing the network that the bigger sites can experience. This demand has led to the introduction of our 24 port device which we see will service that sector of the market”.

The 24 port DSLAM offers all of the features available on the NetComm larger models, in a scaled down version. These units will also support the NetComm bridged modem firmware that NetComm have specifically developed for the hospitality market.

NetComm’s NCT-240 IP DSLAM is available through Ingram Micro and Multimedia Technology distribution and is priced at $3300.00 incl. GST.
