The Keyboard That Wasn't There

If you look out your window you may not see hover cars and rocket packs but rest assured the future is here, well, at least when it comes to keyboard technology. The Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard from I-tech is a geek's wet dream. The keyboard consists of a small black box that beams the image of a keyboard onto any flat surface using red lasers. That's right folks; you heard it right here, lasers! The projected image can then be used as a keyboard with keystrokes being detected via Infra-red sensors.

Virtual Keyboard
Now you see it...

Ok, so lasers aren't as futuristic as they were in the 80s but its wow-factor is definitely cranked to eleven. It's a sexy little unit and is one of those gadgets that makes your wallet flutter with anticipation. It is being marketed at the mobile device market as an alternative to micro keyboards as it is far more portable and has technophile appeal. We got to, very briefly, have a look at the unit in action and it was very impressive. This is first generation for this product, something never been done before, and so it has its quirks, but if it works as well as it looks this will be a product to look out for.

The Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard is currently available at expansys at the retail price of $284.95.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
