When more than 25,000 signed a petition for the U.S. government to build a Death Star, the press got involved, and White House technology adviser Paul Shawcross issued a reply. The salient points: "The Administration does not support blowing up planets" and "why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?" Solid jokes for a science adviser.
