Tom Preston-Werner and Chris Wanstrath GitHub wants to change the way people work, and its user base -- programmers -- has the potential to make it happen. Originally founded to simplify sharing code, GitHub has grown into the largest code host in the world, backed by $100 million in venture funding, and it’s gaining traction as a collaboration platform for non-software projects, too. Co-founders Tom Preston-Werner and Chris Wanstrath swapped titles at the start of 2014, with Preston-Werner taking responsibility for R&D and new growth opportunities and Wanstrath focusing on leading the company and defining its vision: “We tend to do things differently here at GitHub, and remaining fluid in how we define our roles is a big part of that,” Preston-Werner blogged.
