9a. Reload your OS: Windows 7 It will take a few minutes to start the system, format the new drive and load Windows onto it from the DVD disc. Once it's done, boot your new drive, click on "System Recovery Options," select "System Image Recovery" and the laptop will then find the backup files on the external hard drive. Click Next to start the restoration process of moving the data to the new drive.

From here on out, it's all automatic. It should take about an hour or so. In other words, it's time for a coffee break.
